From the new factory (Avintes) to a limited liability company

Changes in the equity structure of the company when José Augusto da Silva Domingues exchanged his shares in Sogrape for the shares the latter held in BA Glass, then controlling 80% of BA's share capital. In 1987, approximately 35% of the company's capital was listed on the stock exchange, with Silva Domingues retaining the majority of the capital.

A new era
From SONAE to BA Glass

Having studied the Spanish market, BA proceeded to acquire Vidriera Leonesa, SA (Vilesa), through a public tender offer launched on the Spanish Stock Exchange.

The Avintes plant was rebuilt by replacing three old furnaces with a single larger one, with a capacity of 340 tons, equal to the combined capacity of the three old furnaces. This new furnace was equipped with advanced manufacturing, inspection, and packaging technologies to meet high market standards for quality and product diversity.

Acquisition of HNG Global, a German glass packaging company headquartered in Gardelegen, West of Berlin. With this new plant, BA Glass expands its market into Central Europe, creating synergies between operations and improving the service to the international customer base.

Acquisition of Yioula Group, with four plants in three countries: Greece (Athens), Bulgaria (Sofia and Plovdiv), and Romania (Bucharest). With these new additions, the group starts producing more than 20 million units per day.
