About the role
The transport assistant is responsible for the daily organization, monitoring, on-time delivery and billing of both routine and critical shipments to and from BA GLASS plants, as well as external customers’ sites. The transport assistant acts as a single point of contact for all parties in the supply chain. He/she provides not only tailor-made, cost-efficient, and time-definite transportation solutions but also strives for impeccable customer service. The main goal is to increase the transparency, controllability, communication and reliability of his or her customer’s supply chain.
Act as a logistical single point of contact, organizing and monitoring inbound and outbound shipments for BA GLASS worldwide network of transport management;
Assign shipments to designated carriers / agents and ensure uplift;
Monitor shipment progress, record in a digital database, compare actual and target milestones;
Exception handling: alleviate or resolve issues occurring during transportation (e.g. delays, border queues / congestions, documentation, road closures, ferry boats’ lack of capacity, etc); inform affected parties and initiate long-term corrective measures;
File discrepancy reports and / or claims in case of incidents (e.g. cargo damage);
Provide ad hoc transport management for urgent shipments outside of the scope of the regular supply chain network.
Archive and ensure both digital and analogue (if needed) traceability of records;
Ensure both physical and information flow; update movement data on shipments as well as contact and contract information between all parties in the supply chain.
Update partners and customers on local restrictions (e.g. service outages, holidays, etc.);
Monitor and report on agents’ deviations from contractual handling instructions;
Reflect on and provide alternatives to recurring issues within the supply chain, both technical and communicational;
Accrue expected transportation costs, cross check transportation invoices and resolve clarifications with both internal and external partners within fixed timeframes;
Provide internal and external partners with project related reports (e.g. cost specifications);
Partake in the continuous improvement of internal, external and interface processes.
