OUR COMMITMENT
Science Based Targets initiative
In 2021, BA gave a new step towards sustainability and is now committed with Science Based Targets initiative!

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling companies to set science-based emissions reduction targets and it is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Main goals:
  • Defines and promotes best practices in emissions reduction and net-zero targets in line with climate science;
  • Provides technical assistance and expert resources to companies who set science-based targets in line with the latest climate science;
  • Brings together a team of experts to provide companies with independent assessment and validation of targets;
  • The SBTi is the lead partner of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign - an urgent call to action from a global coalition of UN agencies, business and industry leaders, mobilizing companies to set net-zero science-based targets in line with a 1.5°C future.
Since January 7th, BA Glass has signed and committed to Science Based Targets initiative, and our target will be public soon.
The Porto Protocol
In 2018, BA joined The Porto Protocol initiative, which purpose is "to raise awareness that climate change is here to stay and that there are things we can do now to make a difference".

  • To reduce the use of natural gas by 10%, replacing it with electricity;

Know more about the different pillars of this project:
Education for the foundations Education for the Future
To ensure equal oportunities

BA Glass supports schools and organizations to overcome the limitation of resources that can affect the learning process and can make the difference between the failure and the success. Acting primarily near the disadvantaged communities, we intend to give similar opportunities to all, and promote a future based in meritocracy and not in social levels. With the projects of this pillar, we expect to promote essencial literacy, citizenship behaviours and contribute for the access to higher education.
To support the development of skills for the future

The future workplace is going to demand new ways of thinking and the reinforcement of specific skills. By supporting the development of skills as critical thinking, creativity, innovation, problem solving, programing and technology use, BA expects to contribute for the development of the citizens of the future. BA counts with local and internal schools and organizations, to provide the right tools, environment and challenges.
Education for Work Education for the Planet
To strength the relations between the BA Glass and schools

The cooperation between schools and businesses is essential to support a full educational process, which will enhance the potential and the abilities that the students can use in their future professional life. The development of core work skills and the possibility of having a working experience can be the base for a successful integration in the labor market. By promoting internships, investigation projects, open days among other projects, BA intends to promote not only the technical knowledge of the young generations, but also skills as leadership and communication.
To encourage pro-environmental actions

The planet is drastically changing, and only committed, aware and responsible generations and communities will be able to stop this process. Taking actions that will help to prepare this mindset changeover is crucial to assure the development of our sustainability goals and help the planet. Through recycling programs in schools and communities, spreading good environmental practices and partnering with biodiversity conservation organizations, BA Glass seeks to boost behaviors of conscious consumption, recycling and environmental protection.
